Each season gives each of us the opportunity to reflect and increase the vitality of our lives. Fall is the time to set our intentions for the upcoming year. My intention for the end of 2006 was to move into my own office space. I guess my intention was very clear because I manifested a new space a year earlier than I intented. Dr. Kaminsky and I had a discussion where he decided that there was not enough room in his office for my growing practice. Two days after that discussion I found this new space which will allow me to offer more services to the patients. The office is approximately 5 minutes East of Downtown Silver Spring. The new address is 8804 Bradford Road, Suite 2 , Silver Spring , MD 20901 . The new phone number is 301-920-1225.
I have a wonderful healer Reverend Canti Wi will be seeing clients in the office starting Thursday afternoon and evening in the new office. She is a licences social worker and massage therapist. She has a wonderful healing style and I am thrilled to have her in my space. I think she gives wonderfully healing massage and I recommend her highly.

Recipe for the Month - Pumpkin Bread
October is the time when you see pumpkins everywhere. This recipes allows you to join in the spirit of the season with healthy twist. This is a great way to use the "meat" or the inside of the pumpkin.
Pumpkin Bread
Start with a small pumpkin, they are more sweet and tender. You will need to soften up the pumpkin. Here are two different methods that I have used.
1) Place the pumpkin in a pan of water on the stove. Heat at medium temperature for 30-60 minutes until the skin can be pierced by a knife easily.
2) Place the pumpkin in a microwave safe dish. Pierce with a knife making several holes in the skin. Heat on high for 7- 10 minutes or until the skin can be pierced by a knife easily.
Once the pumpkin has been softened; scope out the seeds and throw them away. Then scoop out the meat of the pumpkin and set aside.
6 tablespoons of butter or vegan butter substitute
2/3 cups of turbinado sugar
2 organic eggs
1 cup of mash pumpkin
1 teaspoon of vanilla
¾ cup whole wheat flour
¾ cup unbleached flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon of ground ginger
½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon of ground allspice
¼ teaspoon of baking powder
1/3 - ½ cup of milk or milk substitute
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a loaf pan.
In a bowl add:
butter or vegan butter substitute and turbinado sugar. Beat in 2 organic eggs.
Then add into the wet mixture:
mashed fresh pumpkin and vanilla
In another bowl mix the dry ingredients:
whole wheat flour, unbleached flour, baking soda, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, ground allspice and baking powder.
Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Once all the ingredients have been combined add the milk or milk substitute.
Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until done.

Tip for Month - Boosting your Immune System
As the temperature begins to drop watch out for snifles creeping up on you. People seem to be more susceptible to "catching a cold" in the fall and spring. You immune system is kicked into overdrive as people start spending more time inside in closer contact with one another. Keeping your immune system strong can make all the difference between being well or being sick this season. The food that you eat can make a huge difference in boosting your immune system. Every time that you ingest sugar (i.e. cookies, cake, ice cream, sugar in your coffee, etc.) you suppress the cells in the immune system for up to 5 hours at a time. Come learn more about how to boost your immune system at my lecture How to Stave Off Colds and Flu on November 1, 2005.
I wish you peace, love and light. Have a healthy day.
In Health,
Dr. Daemon Jones |
